December 13, 2010

As 2010 comes to a close and the venerable Lincoln Club of Colorado prepares to enter its 93rd year, the Board of Directors wishes to thank our members and friends for the continued support and participation.

The Lincoln Club of Colorado’s mission has remained the same since our founding in 1918: to promote Republican principles and to accomplish the election of Republican candidates.

We strive to keep the membership dues and the cost of our events low, to encourage as much participation as possible.  Membership fees, the support of our events, and direct contributions to the Lincoln Club Political Committee and/or Small Donor Committee, all enable the support of candidates.

Membership dues at $20 per person annually ($30 couple) is one of the great bargains on the Colorado politcal scene.

Our focus in 2010 was on exploring political strategies and the election outlook.  2010 was certainly the year for Republicans to win at every level and we are pleased to think we contributed to our wins.

·      We had many interesting and provocative guest speakers at our luncheons including: John Straayer, Kevin Miller, Jon Caldara, Adam Schrager, Rob Witwer, Lori Weigel, Bryan Cunningham, Tom Flanagan and Michael D. Brown.

·     We showcased candidates from all across the state during every event this year.  We had exceptional Republican candidates running for office and were pleased to see and hear them!

·     We heard a wrap-up on the 2010 Colorado legislative season with Senator Shawn Mitchell and a debate covering the ballot initiatives 60, 61 and 101 with Greg Golyansky and  Henry Sobanet.

·     The Honorable Hank Brown and The Honorable Bob Beauprez each spoke inspiringly at luncheons.  And earlier this month we celebrated the holiday season and our victories - and started the funding for the 2012 election cycle.

·      We contributed over $20,000 to 24 Colorado state-level candidates.  Our strategy was to support fiscally conservative Republican candidates in close races where our contribution could make a difference.  Since we needed just 4 Senate seats and 6 House seats to give us back control of the Colorado General Assembly, we were focused on those races which could achieve that majority.

We congratulate all our Republican candidates for their hard work this election cycle! The full list of our contributions can be found at: http://www.lincolnclubofcolorado.org/candidates.html

We have much planned for 2011 as we build in anticipation of the 2012 elections.

·         We will begin monthly events in the South Metro area.  Our initial roll-out will be a dinner on Thursday, January 20th, at the Douglas County Events Center in Castle Rock, with guest speakers Adam Schrager and Rob Witwer, speaking on the update to their book “The Blueprint”.  Thereafter we will have an event each 4th Thursday evening.

·         We will continue to hold events in Boulder for the North Metro area.

·         Our January 26th luncheon in Denver will feature guest speakers Senate Minority Leader Mike Kopp and Speaker of the House Frank McNulty to speak on our legislative priorities for 2011.  Denver luncheons will continue to be scheduled for the 4th Wednesday of each month.

We look forward to seeing our members, friends - and new friends - often in 2011!

Sincerely,

Amanda
